Michael Crooks, age 56, of 1128-193rd Street in rural Boone, died August 8, 2013, at the Madrid Home in Madrid. His body has been cremated.
Friends may call at the Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall on Thursday, August 15, 2013, from 2 until 8 p.m. where the family will be present from 6 until 8 p.m.
Mike’s family and friends are invited to the McHose Park Shelter House in Boone on Friday, August 16, 2013, from 4 until 6 p.m. for a Celebration of Michael’s Life during which time there will be food and an opportunity to share memories.
A Memorial Service will follow at 7 p.m. at the Shelter House with Rev. Carla Werre officiating.
Michael John Crooks was born in Boone on August 23, 1956.
He graduated from Boone High School in 1976.
On June 4, 1977, Mike married Pamela Howard in Boone.
He worked as a production worker at 3M in Ames from 1977 to 2005, until his health declined.
Mike was a member of the Moose Lodge #104 and the Boone County Civil Defense.
He enjoyed golfing, bowling, fishing, and camping. Mike was an avid NASCAR fan, and he and Pam would attend a NASCAR race on a yearly basis.
Mike especially enjoyed spending time with his family, barbecuing, and hanging out with his grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his father John Charles Galivan, a brother Douglas Eugene Crooks, and a sister Tonya Marie Alexander.
Mike is survived by his wife Pam of Boone; three sons, Chad and wife Hanna, Jason and wife Kodi, and Travis and wife Rachel, all of Boone; a daughter Courtney Macasa and husband Chris of Boone; and 11 grandchildren.
