Carol Learmont, age 91, of Carroll, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church in Carroll with Rev. Dennis Bailey officiating. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 5:00 P.M. on Tuesday where there will be a prayer service held at 7:00 P.M. The casket will be moved to the church at 8:30 A.M. on Wednesday where visitation will resume until the time of service. Organist for the service will be Nancy Davis and special family music will be by Andrew and Kirsten Trachsel. Casket bearers will be Carol’s family members. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday at the Union Cemetery in Humboldt.

Born on September 28, 1921 at Plover, Iowa, she was the daughter of Gilbert and Thelma (Lucas) Clark. She moved to Minnesota as a small child where she grew up. She graduated from Pocahontas High School in 1939. She was married to Forest Learmont on December 1, 1939 at Madelia, Minnesota. The couple made their home in Humboldt after they were married and moved to Lake Park, Iowa in 1946 where they raised their three daughters. Carol worked in the office at Arnold’s Feed and Grain in Lake Park for several years. She was also active in their farming operation north east of Lake Park and they belonged to the Methodist Episcopal Church where she taught Sunday School for many years and was active with the women’s society. Carol also served as a home room mother while her daughters were in elementary school. Carol and Forest moved back to Humboldt in 1963 where they farmed and she worked for Snyder Credit Bureau. Following the death of her husband, Carol moved to Carroll in 1992. While living in Carroll she was a member of First United Methodist Church and the UMW and P.E.O. She was past member of the DAR. Carol enjoyed reading, quilting, knitting, crocheting, crossword puzzles, instant messaging on her computer, gardening, bird watching, flowers, attending her grandson’s musical activities, and spending time with her family and friends.

Carol is survived by her three daughters: Sandra Brown and her husband Bill of Glendale, Arizona, Kathryn Lindhart of Chandler, Arizona, and Lana Downing and her husband Dean of Guthrie Center, Iowa; eight grandchildren: David Johnson and his wife Heather of Avondale, Arizona, Lisa LeCarre and her husband Brice of Gilbert, Arizona, Morgan Hosek and her husband Petr of Trier, Germany, Eirka Andrews and her husband Steve of Midlothian, Virginia, Alisa Hammer and her husband Ben of Tempe, Arizona, Andrew Trachsel and his wife Kirsten of Athens, Ohio, Tony and Adam Trachsel of Portland, Oregon; twelve great grandchildren: Geordi, Geoffrey, Alex, Matthew, Morea, Lea, Cohlton, Braenan, Griffin, Maeryn, Reese, and Andersen; two brothers: Howard Clark and his wife Gene of Windom, Minnesota, and Douglas Clark and his wife Sherralyn of Buffalo, Minnesota; two sisters-in-law: Alvera Clark of Young America, Minnesota, and Darlene Clark of Danube, Minnesota; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1991, four brothers: Edwin, Franklin, James, and Gale, three sisters: Lorys Kimpton, Zola Loe, and Geraldine DeLong, and a granddaughter Desha.
