Frances Stewart
Frances H. Stewart, 96, died Wednesday, August 7, 2013, at Calvin Community. Memorial services will be held 10 am Saturday, August 10, 2013 at Immanuel United Methodist Church.
Frances was born in Knoxville, Iowa to Forrest and Helen (McClure) Goodspeed. She married Addison C. Stewart on June 6, 1936 in Knoxville, Iowa and they moved to the Des Moines area in 1950. Frances was an extraordinary cook and hostess. She was an avid bridge player and most of all she enjoyed caring for her family, friends and neighbors. As an active member of Immanuel United Methodist Church she was involved in several groups including the Westover Study Group, Ada Circle, and “The Dirty Dozen”.
Frances is survived by her daughters: Sharon (Mickey) Swim of West Des Moines and Jan (Chip) Carter of Georgetown, TX; her sister, Martha (Bob) Rosebraugh of Wheaton, IL, five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 75 years, and her brother, Robert Goodspeed.
