February 21, 1949 – August 2, 2013
Angela Kay Skidmore passed away Friday, August 2, 2013 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. She was born Angela Kay Roby on February 21, 1949 in Des Moines, Iowa and graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy (which was later named Dowling Catholic High School after it became coeducational). She married Carmy Skidmore and enjoyed many years together.
Angela was trained as a nurse and worked for many years at Mercy Hospital. She loved being a nurse and she loved the profession dearly. She was also a foster parent for the State of Iowa for 30+ years and enjoyed all of the children that passed thru her doors. She had a lot of love to give and was able to share that love with the many children that she met. She will be remembered as someone who was always willing to help others, putting their needs before her own and for her giving and kind heart. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Angela also attended St. John’s Basilica and Our Lady of the Immaculate Heart in Ankeny. Her faith was very important to her and brought her much comfort.
Her memory will be cherished by her eight children, 21 great-grandchildren and numerous siblings. Angela was preceded in death by her husband, Carmy; her parents; a brother, Alan and two beloved aunts, Barbara and Madonna.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.Information provided by: Brooks Funeral Care 7975 University Blvd. Clive, IA 50325 www.meaningfulfunerals.net
