Outside Magazine names Two Rivers Marketing as one of America’s ‘Best Places to Work’ in 2013

DES MOINES, Iowa (Aug. 6, 2013) — Two Rivers Marketing, a leading provider of business-to-business marketing and public relations services located in Des Moines’ East Village, was recently named to Outside Magazine’s sixth annual “Best Places to Work” list — celebrating companies that have taken innovative steps to establish a new, healthy work-life balance standard.

Partnering with the Outdoor Industry Association and the Best Companies Group, Outside Magazine launched the yearlong selection process by first identifying a wide range of nonprofit and for-profit organizations across the United States with at least 15 employees. Participating companies were sent confidential employee-satisfaction surveys and employer-questionnaires to collect information regarding benefit offerings, compensation packages, environmental initiatives and community outreach programs. The experts at the Best Companies Group then analyzed their findings, selecting the companies that best enable employees to pursue active lifestyles while also supporting their social and environmental contributions.

In addition to highlighting the Top 100 companies, this year’s “Best Places to Work” list spotlights “Fitness-Friendly” companies, as well as those with the most liberal “Flex Time” policies, the “Best Travel Perks” and the “Best Office Culture.”

“We’re excited to be recognized by Outside Magazine as a top place to work in the country,” said Barry Bruner, account lead at Two Rivers Marketing. “As an Iowa company, it’s interesting to see how our agency’s culture mirrors several of the outdoor-type companies that more commonly call states like Oregon and Washington home. We’ve put a lot of focus on work-life balance, a healthy environment and having fun over the past several years. This award helps validate our progress as we continue to look at new ways to keep associates engaged in a productive, worthwhile work environment.”

“We’re proud to publicize the efforts of these 100 companies,” said Outside Editor Christopher Keyes. “They each show a real commitment to creating active, healthy work environments and put a premium on innovative benefits. Year after year, Outside’s ‘Best Places to Work’ program demonstrates that America’s most successful companies are the ones that consistently promote true work-life balance for their employees.”

Located at the confluence of the Des Moines and Raccoon Rivers, Two Rivers Marketing occupies a renovated 1950s General Motors parts warehouse in Des Moines’ historic East Village neighborhood. The building’s industrial feel — complete with exposed ceilings, concrete floors and sprawling windows — provides the perfect workspace backdrop for the agency’s ever-expanding base of heavy industry clients, including those invested in construction, mining and agriculture.

Since opening its doors in 2000, the agency has focused on putting its associates first, with the belief that doing so would ensure innovative solutions for its clients. This focus has allowed Two Rivers Marketing to create a vibrant employee culture while also building a strong reputation in the B2B marketing industry. Associates are encouraged to give back to their community and do so each year by contributing their time and resources to a variety of causes. Framed caricatures on the desks of those associates who have been on the team one year or more, an annual I-Cubs baseball game outing and participation in various fundraising efforts for Special Olympics Iowa, including the nomination of one associate to rappel off a 345-foot building in the heart of downtown Des Moines, characterize the culture that is Two Rivers Marketing.
