Carold Pearson, age 85, of 1027-12th Street, died at his home on August 3, 2013.
A Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, August 7, 2013, at 11:30 a.m. at the Church of the Sacred Heart with Rev. Craig Collison officiating. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Folding and presentation of the American Flag will be conducted by the Boone Veterans Council.
Carold was born in Curlew, Iowa, on September 26, 1927, the son of Alfred and Florence (Peters) Pearson.
He graduated from Lohrville High School in Lohrville in 1945.
After graduation, Carold enlisted in the United States Navy and served overseas during World War II.
Following his military service, he attended Drake University and graduated from AIB in Des Moines with an accounting degree.
On September 23, 1950, Carold married Mary Minnehan, the love of his life, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jefferson.
From 1967 to 1983, Carold owned Boone Freight Lines.
In 1983, he turned over the ownership to his sons but continued to work part-time at the freight lines until his death.
Carold was a member of the V.F.W. #817 and the Knights of Columbus Leo Council #814.
He enjoyed playing golf, bowling, and playing cards.
Carold is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Les and Paul.
He is survived by his wife Mary of Boone; three sons Kevin and wife Monica of Boone, Steven and wife Maggie of Hampton, and Kelcy and wife Elaine of Boone; a daughter Carol Ann Pearson of Ames; a sister Louise Mapes of Lohrville; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall on Tuesday from 1 until 4 p.m. where a Rosary will be recited at 3 p.m. Tuesday evening, the visitation will be at the Church of the Sacred Heart from 6 until 8 p.m. where a Vigil Service will be at 7 p.m.
Visitation continues on Wednesday at the funeral chapel from 8 until 10:30 a.m.
