Etta Irene McCaskey, age 86, of Liberty, Missouri and formerly of Ogden, Iowa, passed away Sunday, August 4, 2013 at the Westhaven Community in Boone, Iowa.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 7, at Walter ~ Schroeder Funeral Home, Fifth & Story Streets in Boone from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with family present from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the Central Christian Church, Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to the service time.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 8, at Central Christian Church, 803 Greene Street in Boone, with Rev. Gary Sneller officiating. Interment will be at Boone Memorial Gardens in Boone.

Etta was born February 17, 1927 in Boone County, Iowa, the daughter of Isaac H. and Catherine (Ward) Hayes.

On July 3, 1949, Etta married Dean Merrelle McCaskey in Boone, Iowa. Etta was a homemaker. The couple lived in Ogden until 1964, then moved to Liberty, Missouri where they resided.

Etta was a past member of the Central Christian Church in Boone. She enjoyed watching Fox News on the television. She also enjoyed gardening, growing flowers and watching birds. While raising her children, Etta always worked at enriching her children’s education.

Etta is preceded in death by her parents, her 2 infant sisters, her 2 brothers George Hayes and Raymond Hayes, her daughter, Sherry Leininger in 1998 and her husband Dean in 2007.

Etta is survived by her son, Randy McCaskey of Liberty, Missouri; her daughter, Machelle Boling (Thomas of Kansas City, Missouri; 4 grandchildren, Lindy McCaskey of Liberty, Missouri, Jeromy McCaskey of Iowa, Todd Leininger (Michelle) of Olatha, Kansas, Justin Leininger (Jessica) of Elizabeth Town, Kentucky; 2 great grandchildren, Sherry Leininger and Zach Leininger; her sister, Mary Turner of Boone County, Iowa; her 2 brothers, Richard Hayes of Boone, Iowa and Henry Hayes of Panora, Iowa and nieces and nephews.
