Dawn M. Depping, 50, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 2, 2013, at her home in Newton. In agreement with her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service honoring Dawn’s life will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 8, at Iles Funeral Homes, Westover Chapel in Des Moines, where the family will greet friends following the service. Private committal services will take place at a later date.
Dawn was born on April 2, 1963 in Irving, TX, to Stanley Daniel and Nancy Susan (Treichel) Nahnsen. On May 10, 1986, she was united in marriage to Stephen Daniel “Steve” Depping and to this union, two children were born. She had resided in Greeley, CO, Perry, IA and Des Moines prior to moving to Newton eight years ago. In addition to being a homemaker most of her life, Dawn was formerly employed with Principal as a Dental Claims Examiner. She loved spending time with her family, friends and beloved cats. Dawn enjoyed making crafts and listening to music. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband, Steve Depping of Newton; daughter, Ashley Depping of Newton; son, Sean Depping of Newton; father, Stanley Nahnsen and his wife, Clotine of Harcourt, IA; two brothers, Kevin Nahnsen of Waterloo, IA and Todd Nahnsen of Enid, OK; and one granddaughter, Zoey McCormack. Dawn was preceded in death by her mother.
