Harold D. Dunham, 89, entered the gates of Heaven on Thursday, August 1, 2013 at his home with his family by his side.A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at Ss. John & Paul Catholic Church in Altoona under the direction of Father Tim Fitzgerald. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.Harold Dean Dunham was born June 8, 1924 in Pleasantville, Iowa to Everett and Edna (Noe) Dunham. He grew up and was a graduate of Pleasantville High School in 1942. Harold had a successful career at Pirelli Tire Company, Borden Dairy, and later sold real estate and insurance. On July 23, 1955 Harold was united in marriage to Eleanor Juanita Chia. Harold was a romantic, giving, and loving husband for 58 years to Eleanor. The couple shared a special bond and were blessed with three daughters; Dianna, Deborah, and Denise.

Harold had a passion for life and always lived to the fullest. He enjoyed watching racing (NASCAR and Knoxville Races) and working on cars, camping, traveling with family, and always telling a joke to crack a smile. He never knew a stranger and enjoyed having a cup of coffee with new and old friends.

Harold was very adventurous and proud of his daughters and grandchildren. He loved exploring and teaching them new things like riding motorcycles and snowmobiles. Many vacations were taken so Harold could show his family the world and the wonderful gifts of life.

Most of all, Harold was a loyal mentor and father figure to his family. He touched many lives and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his wife, Eleanor of Altoona; daughters, Dianna (Bill) Barth of Indianola, Deborah (Alan Kuehl) Trigg of Indianola, and Denise (Steven) Dennis of Altoona; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.Preceding him in death are his parents; grandson, Steven Dennis; and two brothers, Leland Dunham and Delmar Dunham.Memorial contributions may be directed to Ss. John & Paul Catholic Church.
