August 20, 1948 – July 27, 2013
Delores L. Rogers, age 64 of Seymour, Iowa, passed away Saturday, July 27, 2013 at her home.
She was born on August 20, 1948 in Pekin, Illinois, the daughter of Betty Haynes. Delores married the love of her life Thomas L. Rogers on December 4, 1964 in Bartonville, Illinois. To this union four children were born, Diane, Thomas W., Patricia, and Pamela.
Delores spent many years raising her four children at home. She took pride in being a homemaker. In her free time, she enjoyed numerous activities. Delores had a passion for reading her bible. Raised a Baptist, she often held her bible in her possession. She loved attending garage sales and bingo when time permitted. Delores often ventured to casinos with family and friends. Furthermore, she loved watching “Law and Order” on the television. Yet, her favorite actors of all time were Roy Rogers and wife Dale Evans. She also had a passion for music, especially songs by Tex Ritter, such as “Walt Across Texas” and “Just Beyond the Moon.” In fact, the latter song became Tom and Delores’ song together.
The most sacred thing in her life was her family, especially her grandchildren. Delores was able to put up such a courageous fight against cancer due to the inspiration of her grandchildren. She always cherished the long walks that she was able to take with them.
Delores was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Haynes; and grandparents, Everett and Alberta Haynes.
She is survived by her husband of forty eight years, Thomas L. Rogers of Seymour, Iowa; four children, Diane (Dave) Johnson of Vacaville, California, Thomas W. (Theresa) Rogers of Plano, Iowa, Patricia Taylor of Dixon, California, and Pamela Rogers (Terry Eiler) of Seymour, Iowa; eleven grandchildren, Tyler and Mikenna Johnson, Amanda and Evelyn Rogers, Courtney and Hallie Taylor, Blake and Peyton Jones, Lucas, Autumn, and Kari; cousins, Lawrence “Buster” Haynes of Illinois and Joyce Coffey of Brownwood, Texas; her best friend, Erlen Rogers of Chillicothe, Illinois; childhood friend, Judy Wells; several nieces and nephews; and numerous adopted grandchildren.
