July and August put summer activities in full swing, from Independence Day celebrations with several fantastic fireworks displays, to the Altoona Area Chamber of Commerce Annual Golf Outing at Terrace Hills Golf Course, to a community-wide Family Fun Bike Ride.
Our Business 101 classes have been very successful, and July’s session is no different. Eric Nelson, marketing strategist from Des Moines Register Media, will be guest professor again and will be guiding us through Social Media Reputation Management best practices on July 25.
Coming in August will be the Iowa Classic Parade presented by Prairie Meadows on Saturday, Aug. 3. Businesses and organizations, put your floats together for a chance to win special recognition and cash prizes. Registration forms are available on the chamber website, www. altoonachamber.org.
The “Altoona Palooza” community-wide celebration is set for Saturday, Aug. 24. The Altoona Area Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the produce and art market, and we are looking for vendors who have anything homemade, handcrafted or home grown. Cost to vend is just $50 for the entire day. For more information or to register to be a vendor, go to: http://www.altoonachamber.org/en/choose_altoona/produce__art_market_2013/.
These activities are just part of the experiences your Altoona Area Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring and promoting this summer for you, your family and your business to enjoy in this community.
I hope to see you at many of these events. Have an outstanding summer.
