Remembering A Fallen Soldier

The “3rd Annual Josh Davis Memorial Poker Run” will take place in Perry, August 10, 2013. Josh Davis was a Perry High School Graduate in 2009 joined the U.S. Marines and was killed in action May 7th, 2010. This event funds the Josh Davis Memorial Award given to a Perry High School graduate every year by the Davis family since Josh’s death.

 Registration will be at the Elk’s Lodge on east Willis beginning at 9:30am. Onsite registration will be $15 which includes a poker hand and meal at the end of the ride. The event also includes a 50/50 raffle, a live auction, and a raffle for a charcoal grill handmade in the shape of a long horned bull.  A limited amount of shirts will be available the day of the ride.

There will be a parade of motorcycles down Willis to 1st street leaving the Elk’s lodge at 11am and riding approx. 160 miles of rural Iowa’s country side, returning to the Elk’s for the conclusion of the event. The “JDMPR” had 117 registered motorcycles in 2012, doubling in size of the 61 motorcycles in 2011, and continues to grow every year.
