Michael Bush
Michael Dean Bush, 70, of Ankeny, IA passed away on Friday, July 12, 2013 at Unity Point Hospital in Des Moines. He was born in Alhambra, CA to Earl and Virginia (Little) Bush on December 22, 1942. A Celebration of Life will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 20, 2013 at Ankeny Funeral Home (1510 W. First Street). The family will greet friends one hour prior to services. Interment will be in Oralabor Cemetery, Ankeny.
Left to cherish Mike’s memory are his wife of 44 years, Karen; his daughter, Stacy (John) Williams; and grandchildren, Nathan and Natalie Williams all of Ankeny. He is also survived by his brother, Jerry (Donna) Bush of Florence, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Alan Michael Bush.
Mike grew up in Fairfield, IA and graduated from Fairfield High School and Parsons College. He was employed by American Can Company in Des Moines. With a passion for bicycling, he co-founded the local Lake Country Cyclists in 1992 and enjoyed cycling with family and friends, especially organized rides such as RAGBRAI. Mike also found pleasure traveling, backpacking, camping, watching various sports, reading, and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the family to support the Ankeny cycling community.
