Louise Christine Stoffers, age 92, of Carroll, Iowa passed away on Friday, July 19, 2013 at the Carroll Health Center.
Funeral services will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Carroll on Saturday, July 27th at 10:30am with Pastor Brian Licht officiating. Organist for the service will be Jan Hoff. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 5:00 P.M. on Friday where there will be a prayer service held at 7:00 P.M. The casket will be moved to the church at 8:30 A.M. on Saturday where visitation will resume until the time of service. Burial will be in the Westside Cemetery. An honor guard will be formed at the church by the St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Louise’s name to New Hope Village or St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Born on August 10, 1920 near Manning, Iowa, she was the daughter of Walter and Henrietta (Strathman) Ossenkop. She grew up on her family’s farm near Manning and attended country school. She was married to Elmer Stoffers on March 14, 1940. They made their home 2 miles northwest of Arcadia where Louise was a housewife and partner in their farming operation. While living in Arcadia Elmer and Louise were active members of Zion Lutheran Church. In 1981 they retired from farming and moved to Carroll where they were members of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Louise enjoyed many years as a volunteer at New Hope Village and St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed flower gardening, traveling, dancing, and spending time with her family and many good friends.
Louise is survived by a son Roger Stoffers and his wife Carlene of Fremont, CA; her twin daughters: Anita Buescher and her husband John of Folsom, CA and Annette Phillips and her husband Jim of Roseville, CA; five grandchildren: Tracy Phelps (Kent), Stephen Lewis (Katie), Matthew Buescher (Sarah) Timothy Buescher and Erin Bartucco (Rick) and her five great grandchildren: Emma, Sophie, Hailey, Trey, and Hannah; two sisters-in-law: Blondina Stoffers of Carroll and Adele Stoffers of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 2001, two brothers: Earl and Vernon Ossenkop, and a sister Marion Grimsman.Information provided by:
