Clarence Stewart
Clarence “Jupe” Stewart, 84, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2013 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, IA surrounded by loved ones. He was born on December 12, 1928 in Berkley, IA to Clarence Stewart and Legora Garland. Jupe graduated from the Rippey High School in 1947 and shortly after that enlisted in the United States Army and served in the Korean War. He lived in Perry for most of his adult life and worked for the City of Perry street department until his retirement, after which he could be seen on both sides of the bar at Mike’s Pub. He enjoyed participating in bowling and dart leagues and dancing at Lake Robbins Ballroom. In his earlier years Jupe also coached Little League. He was a member of the American Legion and former Moose Lodge. He is survived by his sister Nadine Wilson of Tucson; sisters-in-law Doris Stewart of Boone and Marilyn Stewart of Perry; nieces Jan Norris (Dan), Cindy Bancroft (Merrill) , Sherri Elliott, and Kim Schoenthal (Dan); nephews Joe Wilson (Lis), Kevin Heisler (Nancy), Ron Stewart (Joelee), and Jerry Wilson (Susan); and very special friends Karen Wicks and Adam Stout. He has many great and great-great nieces and nephews also. He joins his parents; brothers Dale and Charles Stewart; sister Madonna Heisler; nephew Jim Stewart; nieces Gigi Kean and Kristi Murphy; and very special ladies Helen Peterson and Charlene Hanlon. Memorial contributions may be made to the family in loving memory of Jupe.
