Allen W. Sharp, age 61 of Centerville, Iowa passed away Thursday, July 18, 2013 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa.
He was born October 5, 1951 in Centerville, Iowa, the son of Dixie Lee (Clark) Sharp. Allen was raised in Centerville and graduated from Centerville High School with the Class of 1969. He married Chris Coffman on August 31, 1985 in Centerville.
Following high school graduation, Allen worked for numerous companies throughout his years of employment, including Elliott Electric, Newell Machinery, and Winger Mechanical, where he retired as a superintendant of millwrights.
Following retirement, he became a reserve police officer with the Centerville Police Department, an EMT-B, Southern Appanoose County First Responder, and a volunteer with Appanoose County Water Rescue.
His greatest passion in life was spending time with his family.
Allen was preceded in death by his mother, Dixie Clark Sharp; Maternal Grandparents, Vircil “Bill” Clark and Thelma Clark;
He is survived by his wife, Chris (Coffman) Sharp of Cincinnati, Iowa; Daughters, Patty (Don) Richmond of Centerville, Iowa and Amy (Scott) Riddle of Dallas, Texas; a son, Steve (Stephanie) Sharp of Colorado; granddaughters, Makenzie Richmond of Centerville, Iowa and Ashley Sharp of Colorado; grandsons, Jarett Sharp of Colorado and Collin and Preston Riddle of Dallas, Texas; Brothers, Terry (Lori) Sharp of Indianola, Iowa, Rick (Penny) Sharp of Centerville, Iowa, Mike (Gayla) Sharp of Centerville, Iowa; a sister, Diana (Chris) Bonnett of Centerville, Iowa; a special sister-in-law, Tracy Childs; mother-in-law, Mary Coffman of Exline, Iowa; brother-in-law Chuck Coffman, special friend Kim Swanson, Clovie (Connie) Coffman, and nephew Clovie “Bub” Coffman Jr. all of Exline, Iowa; many beloved nieces and nephews; as well as great nieces and nephews; and his Centerville Police Department Family.
While his time with us was way too short, he lived a very full, happy, and blessed life.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 PM, Sunday, July 21, 2013 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville with Pastor Cindy Finn officiating. Burial will follow in the Exline Cemetery, Exline, Iowa. A visitation will be held from 12-8 PM on Saturday at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory with the family present from 5-8 PM that evening. Memorials have been established to the Centerville Police Reserve Unit and may be given to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
