Bicycle, Blues, & BBQ Festival – July 12, 2013 – July 14, 2013. http://www.bicyclebluesbbq.com. Inflate those tires, find your helmet, and get biking! Bicyclists of all ages and abilities are invited to combine their love of bicycling with this 9th Annual weekend event that includes great food and blues music. The fun begins Friday night at 5:30pm with free blues music in City Park, and BBQ Vendors will again be offering delicious barbeque creations. All ages & biking abilities are encouraged to set out Saturday morning for fun bicycle rides of varying lengths and difficulty. Routes will be planned & marked by organizers. A Criterium Bicycle Race will be held on Saturday afternoon, with music continuing on in the evening at City Park. Sunday, a USCF sanctioned road race will begin at 10am at the Surf Ballroom. Mahoney was chosen by Maroon 5 lead singer Adam Levine as one of his 8-team members after hearing Mahoney’s stunning rendition of Sam Cooke’s “Bring it On Home to Me.” And while Mahoney was eliminated from the competition on the episode that aired in May 2011, the iTunes single of his duet with Casey Weston of “Leather and Lace” reached at high as #32 on the iTunes singles chart. Homemade Ice Cream Day – July 14, 2013, 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM. Kinney Pioneer Museum. Visitors to Kinney Pioneer Museum will enjoy homemade ice cream prepared at the museum and served with homemade cakes & bars. Special music, activities, and demonstrations are also planned. Experience life on the Iowa frontier through the vintage exhibits and living history at the museum. Museum consists of a main brick building, an old one room school house, a log cabin, a blacksmith shop, a local town’s wooden jail, a metal building for display of agricultural equipment, a storage building and workshop, along with several outdoor items on display.
