Thank you, volunteers

Posted July 10, 2013 in Community Featured, Norwalk

It really shouldn’t surprise anyone that Norwalk has quite a few really good people who will take their time out to volunteer for something when the call is requested for help.

As the executive director of the Norwalk Chamber, I see this often with our own events, and it really does take more than one person to pull some things together. I would like to thank all of those who have stepped in to help us with our own events.  Some of you are Chamber members, but there are quite a few who are not, and so the Norwalk Area Chamber of Commerce would especially like to thank you.

These events are RUNorwalk, our annual golf outing, Party Before the Works and our wine event. We appreciate you helping us when we need it.

Our golf outing, which was held June 24 at Echo Valley Country Club, was a huge success. Despite waiting for more than an hour to let the storms pass, play was able to resume, and the players were treated with some hot appetizers courtesy of Echo Valley.  Broadbent Distillery was there to provide tastings of their product to the more than 90 golfers, and many of them were pleasantly surprised.

Party before the Works was also another great event. This event gets people into the mood to celebrate America’s birthday, gather with friends and have fun in their community. Thank you to Klassy Krew BBQ for being our food vendor this year. If you haven’t had the opportunity to try their food; you are missing out.

The Fourth of July parade is always fantastic, and it seems to get bigger and bigger every year.  Thank you to the people who co-ordinate that and the activities in the city park, and a big thank you to the Norwalk Lions Club for putting on the fireworks display that never disappoint the spectators.

The Norwalk Area Chamber of Commerce will be having another ribbon cutting on July 16 at 5 p.m. We will be welcoming Iowa Distilling Company, taking tours and doing some tasting at their facility in Cumming.

The Norwalk Area Chamber of Commerce has 143 members representing 111 businesses, and we also have four individuals as members, so see, you don’t have to sign up under a business if you do not want to. To see who our members are, visit our webpage at
