The tradition of fireworks in Fort Dodge continue thanks to the generous donation of Kevin and Karen Alstott, owners of C & S Products of Fort Dodge.

After reading reports on Saturday, June 29 that the annual fireworks display in downtown Fort Dodge was to be cancel for 2013 due to lack of funding, Karen and Kevin Alstott immediately contacted representatives from the Greater Fort Dodge Growth Alliance to see if they could save this year’s show with a donation.

“Kevin and I thought it was important that Fort Dodge have a fireworks show for the holiday. We need to remember what the 4th of July is about,” said Karen Alstott.

Mayor Bemrich got involved early Saturday after being informed about the donor. He then contacted the City Manager to get the permit process started. “It was almost miraculous that we are able to pull this off,” said Mayor Bemrich. “City staff did a great job coordinating what was needed on a Saturday afternoon. Joe Gilbert was fantastic to get a commitment from J & M Displays to do atop notch show on a short notice,” he added.
