Bonnie Dillow, age 81, of 2121 Greene Street, died June 29, 2013, at the Boone County Hospital.
Following her wishes, her body has been cremated and a Memorial Service will be Friday, July 5, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church. Burial of her cremains will be in the Linwood Park Cemetery.
Bonnie was born in Boone on February 23, 1932, the daughter of Elmer and Mable (Peterson) Dillow.
She graduated from Boone High School in 1950.
For 18 years, Bonnie was a secretary/bookkeeper for Boone Construction.
Then, for three years, she worked part-time as a day dispatcher for the Boone Police Department and then worked as a secretary for Kruck Plumbing & Heating Co.
After that, she worked as a receptionist for Pat Clemons Inc. and lastly, she worked as site manager for the Boone Congregate Meals at the Senior Citizens Center for 13 years.
She enjoyed playing cards, playing Bingo, visiting Prairie Meadows and Meskwaki, dancing, dining out, and having morning coffee at Hy-Vee.
Bonnie loved taking care of her dogs.
In earlier years, Bonnie enjoyed working at the Boone Area Pilots Association Fly-In Breakfasts and was known as ‘Butter Bonnie’.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents and her dogs, Pal, Cindy, Mandy, Angel Elizabeth, and Abby.
She is survived by a host of friends, 1950 Classmates, special friends and neighbors Loren and Anne Hull, and “adopted grandkids” Danielle, Andy, and Logan Hull.
Friends may call at the First United Methodist Church on Friday from noon until service time.
In memory of Bonnie, memorials may be directed to her church or the Boone Area Humane Society.
