Posted June 19, 2013 in Community Featured, Grimes

Grimes churches offer many opportunities for fellowship this summer — something for all ages, in fact.

Grimes United Methodist’s annual corn feed is a delicious option. The corn feed will happen July 13, 5 – 7:30 p.m. A freewill offering will be received that will go to Word Made Flesh, supporting the children in Moldove.

Vacation Bible school at Grimes United Methodist Church is always a fun happening. This summer the apostle Paul is coming to VBS at Grimes UMC to discuss his trip to Athens and the ministry he experienced, as well as encouraging children to share Jesus with their family and friends. Athens will be presented July 20 – 25 from 5:30 – 8 p.m. each evening. The schedule will be interactive and will include supper, singing, games, crafts and Bible stories sharing Paul’s adventures. St. Peter Lutheran Church is taking registration for its vacation Bible school slated for the week of July 8 – 12 from 6 – 8:30 p.m. All children in the community are invited to attend this fun week. The VBS program this year is called SonWest Roundup: A Rip-Roaring Good Time with Jesus. Kids are encouraged to wear their cowboy hats, boots, handkerchiefs and anything else that makes them feel like the rootin’est, tootin’est cowboy around.

For the older folks, St. Peter Lutheran hosts a Senior Citizen Luncheon. This month the luncheon will be on Thursday, June 27 at noon. All Grimes area senior citizens are invited and encouraged to attend. A $3 donation will cover the meal. If interested in attending, folks are asked to RSVP at 986-3077. It’s a great way to get to know fellow residents in Grimes.

For those new to Grimes, St. Peter will welcome new members with a June 30 Sunday brunch at 9 a.m. along with a worship service in honor of new members. New member orientation class on Wednesday, June 26 is a perfect place to start. If you or someone you know is looking for a new parish or just some information, join the class, which is held at 6:30 p.m. Contact St. Peter Lutheran and find out more.
