Born on Dec 13, 1962 in Carroll, IA, she was the daughter of Merlin and Beverly (nee Dixon) Brockmann of rural Westside, IA. She was baptized and confirmed in faith at Zion Lutheran Church, Arcadia, IA. She attended Ar-We-Va Community Schools graduating in 1981. After working several years as a medical transcriptionist, she continued her education at Iowa State University where, as a dual major, she was conferred a B.S. in Teaching Pre-Kindergarten/Kindergarten (with distinction) and a B.S. in Child, Parent, & Community Services (with distinction).

Dee Ann was a woman of strong faith and determination and maintained a deep love for her family and friends. She enjoyed reading, particularly the Bible, and traveling to experience other cultures. She led a Christ-centered life and cherished her time worshiping and studying God’s Word. Her travels included mission trips to Costa Rica and Honduras, and she was learning Spanish in anticipation of future mission travels. She loved the beauty of wildflowers and found joy in caring for her cats. She also enjoyed spending time on knitting projects, and was a member of the Prayer Shawl Ministry at Grace Lutheran Church in Pensacola.

Dee Ann was diagnosed with scleroderma, lupus and mis-connective tissue diseases by the Mayo Clinic in June 1996. This diagnosis would become a lifelong journey she challenged head-on, further strengthening her faith, and providing her opportunities to witness God’s grace and mercy to others. To all who knew her, she demonstrated great courage and we can all be inspired to be much better than we are.

She is survived by her father Merlin Brockmann of Carroll; brothers Mark Brockmann and his wife Nicole of Lafayette, LA, and Cory Brockmann and his wife Catherine of Beaverton, OR; and a sister, Ellen Brockmann of Pensacola, FL; along with nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother Beverly Brockmann; a son, Quinton, and a daughter Analyn; a sister, Lori Brockmann; and a brother, Russell Brockmann.
