Major Disruptions to Bus Service Expected Saturday Due to Dam to Dam

Posted May 29, 2013 in Web Exclusives

The Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority (DART) anticipates major disruptions to bus service on the morning of Saturday, June 1, due to street closures for the Dam to Dam events.

Grand Avenue and Locust Street will be closed all morning from 12th Street to the Capitol Complex, affecting the regular routing of nine DART routes:

·       Routes 1 and 4 will not be able to provide service to the East Village or the Capitol Complex.
·       Routes 3, 14, 15, 16, 17, 52, 60 will be on detour.

More than 100 bus stops, primarily in downtown Des Moines, will not have service while the buses are on detour. The detour will also cause delays. Due to the level of service disruptions, DART cannot guarantee that passengers will be able to make transfers from one route to another without significant delays throughout the morning.

DART advises riders to plan their trips accordingly. Riders with questions about service on Saturday are encouraged to call DART Customer Service at 515-283-8100. Detour information is available online at

DART anticipates service returning to regular routing by early afternoon.
