Sleepy Hollow Sports Park Gets Ready For 5K Run Benefiting Charity

Des Moines- Sleepy Hollow Sports Park is gearing up for their annual wet and wild event. The 5K “Sleepy Hollow H2O Run benefiting the American Heart Association” will be taking place on June 22nd at Sleepy Hollow.

“This race will have more water-themed obstacles than any race we’ve done before,” said Nathaniel James, General Manager for Sleepy Hollow. “There will be water everywhere. You will be swimming in water, running through it, and jumping into it. Water will be falling from above and getting sprayed at you. It’s going to be a blast.”

Some of the obstacles planned include navigating through foam-filled mazes, crawling through water filled trenches, climbing up and through waterfalls, and finishing with a trip down a 350 foot, water covered “slip-n-slide.”

“We are thrilled to be partnering with the American Heart Association for this race,” said James. “Heart disease is a problem that hits close to many people in one way or another. The idea that we can use our race platform to promote exercise while benefiting a charity fighting for heart health is something we’re really excited about.”

The 5K race begins at 10:00 AM on June 22nd. The cost is $45 – $65 per person, depending on how early you register. This race is also included in Sleepy Hollow’s “Challenges for Charity” two race package for $75 per person.
