Urbandale Middle School Ribbon Cutting Event May 20th

Posted May 16, 2013 in Community Web Exclusives, Urbandale

URBANDALE, Iowa – May 14, 2013 – In partnership with the Urbandale Chamber of Commerce, the Urbandale Community School District extends an invitation to all community members to attend a special Celebration and Recognition Event at the Urbandale Middle School on Monday, May 20, 2013 beginning at 5:00pm. Since 2009, Urbandale Middle School has undergone extensive remodeling and additions; with the finishing touches recently completed in the commons, all project goals have been accomplished.

“We are so fortunate to have this facility for middle level learners in Urbandale.  I cannot begin to thank the community for their support of education and the commitment made to middle level education in our district. With the completion of this project, Urbandale can compete with any district in central Iowa relative to facilities and technology available to our students,” said Dan Meyer, Principal, Urbandale Middle School.

Urbandale schools are on a quest for transforming education to bring learning to life for everyone. The foundation for this transformation is through a tactical philosophy known as ‘Quality/Continual Improvement’. Quality/Continual Improvement integrates data-based tools throughout the district in order to have a systematic way for collecting key data points, assessing data to determine effectiveness of teaching and learning practices, and then implementing changes to continually improve the system. This comprehensive approach to redesigning learning extends to the learning environments themselves, and is reflected in the recently completed Urbandale Middle School remodel and additions.

Community members are invited to join the district in celebrating and recognizing the effort, work, and dedication of Urbandale team members and partners to reach this significant milestone for Urbandale schools. Brief comments will be shared by Dr. Doug Stilwell, Superintendent of Schools, and Meyer beginning at 5:00pm, followed by a ribbon cutting with the Urbandale Chamber, and concluding with refreshments and student-guided tours of the building. Urbandale Middle School is located at 7701 Aurora Avenue. The event will be held outside the main entry; if raining, it will move directly inside.
