AMES, IOWA – 30 watercolor works will be exhibited in the Iowa Watercolor Society’s 35th Annual Traveling Exhibition, on display at Ames’ Octagon Center for the Arts’ Community Gallery from May 18 – July 13, 2013. Gallery hours for the show are Monday – Saturday 10am-5pm.
The traveling show includes thirty paintings selected from the Annual Iowa Watercolor Society’s 2012 juried show. The IWS offers this exhibit free of charge to interested in galleries to support local artists and bring quality art to all areas of the state. This year’s Traveling Show began at the Dubuque Museum of Art and comes to a close at the Octagon Center for the Arts in Ames.
The public is invited to an artist reception on Friday June 7, 5-8pm in the Octagon’s Community Gallery in conjunction with the Octagon’s building-wide open house, the opening of the 3rd floor gallery exhibit DOT: Journey in Transportation – 100 Years of Transportation in Iowa, and ArtWalk.
About Iowa Watercolor Society The Society was formed to offer the opportunity for watercolor artists to network with other artists statewide, and to provide educational opportunities for Iowa watercolorists.

Regular Gallery hours are Monday – Friday 10 am – 5 pm and Saturday and Sunday 1 – 5 pm. Regular shop hours are Monday – Friday from 10 am – 5:30 pm, Thursday 10 am – 7 pm, and Saturday 10 am – 5 pm.
