Lavon “Bonnie” McConville, 91, died Monday, May 13, 2013, at Trinity Center at Luther Park in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 17, at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church with burial to follow at Glendale Cemetery.

Lavon was born in Auburn, Iowa on December 5, 1921 to Elbert and Gwenola (Green) Akey. She married Owen P. McConville, Jr. on August 16, 1947, in Lovilia, Iowa. Lavon was a charter member of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, Mercy Hospital Guild, and St. Theresa’s Altar and Rosary Society.

Lavon is survived by her sons, Richard (Mary) McConville of West Des Moines, Owen (Christine) McConville III of Pella and Gregory (Deborah Larson-Allen) McConville of West Des Moines; 13 grandchildren, Kathleen (Jeff) Jensen, Casey McConville, Joseph (Meghan) McConville, Patrick (Sidell) McConville, Brendan McConville, Owen (Karri) McConville IV, Benedict (Leah) McConville, Nicholas McConville, Megan McConville, Kelly (Sydney) McConville, and Ryan McConville; and nine great-grandchildren, Hayden and Reagan Jensen, Finnian and Faolan McConville, Ashlea and Regan McConville, Annmarie and Owen McConville V, and Carson McConville. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and her sisters, Lila Akey and Arlene Lahn.

The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Thursday, May 16, at Iles Funeral Homes-Westover Chapel where a vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Theresa’s Catholic Church Foundation. Online condolences will be welcomed at
