Looking for your next can’t-put-it-down book, but don’t know where to start? Here are several reliable resources we use all the time to help us find fantastic reads.

You have to try Novelist. This fun online database highlights fiction and nonfiction books based on your interests and what you like to read. NoveList is useful for finding author read-alikes and title read-alikes, as well as book club discussion questions for select titles, lists of award winning books and more. Novelist is available under the Virtual Library link at www.johnstonlibrary.com.

Bookpage
Bookpage is a monthly newspaper that highlights new books being published with insightful reviews, author interviews and more. .  Bookpage recommends the best books for readers of all types, whether you’re interested in literary fiction or romance, history or science fiction, cookbooks or children’s books. The best part about it…Bookpage is free for you at Johnston Public Library. If you’ve never thumbed through this resource, you have to grab a copy on your next visit to the library.

Still haven’t found the perfect book? It’s time to go to the internet. We have a collection of vetted, librarian-approved websites that all aim to help you find your next perfect book. Some of our favorites include Goodreads.com and Stop, You’re Killing Me!, a website for mystery lovers.
