Ivy Caroline Saale, age 79 of Belton, Missouri, formerly of Centerville, Iowa passed away Thursday, April 25, 2013 at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Home in Belton, Mo.
She was born in Moberly, Missouri on July 2, 1933, the daughter of Forest and Alberta (Minor) Rumsey. She was joined in marriage to Leslie Brammer, with whom she had her only child, Ronald Ray Brammer. She was later married to Billy Tuley. In 1975 she was united in marriage to David Saale.
Caroline was very gifted, talented, and a blessing to many. She was well-known for her extreme talent in art that can be found displayed at Mercy Medical Center, the Centerville Museum, and the walls of many homes. She created hundreds of portraits in the Centerville and surrounding areas. She was also a very talented musician. She could play about any musical instrument she picked up, and had a distinct, beautiful, and anointed singing voice which moved many hearts. Caroline wrote 73 songs, mostly gospel or relating to her love of Israel. Some of her songs were published, others sung in churches, while others sent to soldiers in Israel. She also wrote and published the book, “WANTED: A Place for Mom” in 2010.
Caroline was a devoted Christian all of her life. She was a student of Bible prophecy concerning Israel, and had the privilege of being baptized in the Jordan River. Caroline worked for over 20 years as a caregiver for the mentally challenged at the group homes in Centerville. This job brought her great joy and satisfaction. She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, enjoyed fishing and bike riding around the lake. Caroline loved preaching bible studies to her grandchildren when they were younger, especially teaching them scriptures through song.
She was most recently a member of the Gospel Tabernacle Church in Belton, Missouri, where she was loved by many close friends of the congregation.
Caroline was preceded in death by her parents, her son, brothers William Rumsey and Robert Rumsey, and an infant great grandchild.
She is survived by the love of her life, David Saale; sisters, Lois Baker of Benton, Arkansas, Marlene Gardner of Melrose, Iowa, Peg Mistler of Centerville, Iowa, sister-in-law Carol Rumsey of Overland Park, Kansas; granddaughters Melissa Zanders, Rachael (Jeff) Salstrand, Ricki (Tony) Cossolotto, all of Centerville, and Sonia Smith (Brian Seeman) of Mystic, Iowa, 14 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; and nieces, nephews, and cousins that she loved.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville. A visitation will be held on Tuesday at Lange Funeral Home from 12-2 PM. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Cincinnati, Iowa.
