The Annual Educator Appreciation Banquet held by the Johnston Chamber is on May 8 at Camp Dodge Freedom Center. This is a great opportunity for our business community to formally thank the staff of the Johnston Community School District for their hard work throughout the year.
This year’s celebration will be attended by more than 400 educators and staff. We will be treating them to numerous hors d’oeuvres and prizes on behalf of our Chamber members. Thank you to the 40-plus businesses that will be donating prizes and money to pay for the event, and time and effort in planning and hosting it. A special thank you to Rachel McCann from Middendorf Insurance and her committee for working on this for the past four months.
Congratulations go out to the retirees who will be recognized for the many years of service to Johnston Community Schools. They are Deb Strayer (22 years), Dee Bradt White (20 years), Barb Lekwa (14 years), Linda Kirschenman (12 years), Mike Volz (5 years) and Robin Kuhns Cunningham (27 years).
Finally, I would like to extend a thank you to Camp Dodge for allowing us to use their venue and to Hy-Vee for catering the event this year. We appreciate all you do for the Chamber and Johnston.
Preparing for Green Days
Green Days is just days away. It will be held June 13 – 16. OK, maybe a couple months away. But the committees are working on this event like it is just days away. There is still time to get involved, so if you would like to work on a committee or volunteer during the event, please contact Heather at the Chamber by emailing her at firstname.lastname@example.org, and she will get you connected.
See our Chamber website for upcoming networking events in the coming months. There are great opportunities to meet business people from Johnston.
