On Monday April 22, the City of Clive, Clive Lions Club and Clive Chamber of Commerce hosted the Annual Clive Citizen of the Year Banquet at Walnut Ridge at Clive Senior Community. The Banquet recognized Garry and Zane Vokes as the 2012 Clive Citizens of the Year. The 50+ in attendance listened to the importance of paying our “Civic Rent” from featured speaker Suku Radia, President & CEO of Bankers Trust.
Garry and Zane Vokes have lived in Clive for 27 years. Garry is retired, following 39 years of service at the US Postal Service. Zane taught at Southeast Polk High School for 24 years and still serves as a substitute teacher. Over their 27 years in Clive the Vokes have been active in the community through their participation in the Clive Festival, Clive Cub and Boy Scout Troop #208, and as members of the Clive Lions Club were instrumental in the enhancement of the KidSight program where Clive Lions visit daycares and pre-schools to use a special camera to identify vision problems in children where early detection could be critical for their care.
