Bonnie, 78, left this world to be reunited with God and her husband, Richard on Thursday, April 18, 2013. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Monday, April 22 at Merle Hay Funeral Home with burial to follow at Chapel Hill Gardens. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10 a.m.
Born in Des Moines on June 9, 1934, Bonnie was a life long resident of the Des Moines area and graduated from North High School. Bonnie retired from the Des Moines Public Schools in 1997 and enjoyed Wednesday coffee with her former coworkers. Bonnie and Richard enjoyed raising canaries in their younger years and loved spending time with their children.
She will be remembered as a loving, compassionate and comforting woman who loved her family, especially her grandchildren. Bonnie was a hard worker who instilled this work ethic in all of her children. She will be remembered for her love of chocolate, especially chocolate chip chocolate muffins. Bonnie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Bonnie is survived by her children, Rick (Karen) Hadden, Julienne (Randy) Pollock, Lori (Dale) Kellar and Lisa (Dan) Robben; grandchildren, Ryan, Jacob and Jason Pollock, Ashlyn and Josh Kellar and Kailee Robben; four great-grandchildren and one brother, Bill (Ruth) Dorn. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, in 1992.
