Judy Ablett, 64, died Thursday, April 11, 2013 at Methodist Hospital. Visitation will be Monday, April 15 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Brooks Tonini Chapel, 2135 SW 9th St., Des Moines. Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 16 at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Judy was born in 1949 to Donald and Betty Ritter. She was the sixth of eleven children and they lived on a farm in Afton, IA. The family later moved to Creston, IA and finally settled in Bondurant, IA.

Judy worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant for 48 years and truly loved it. She enjoyed taking care of the elderly in hospitals and nursing homes.

Judy enjoyed country music, being with family and friends. Most of all she enjoyed working and being with her grandchildren.

Judy was always helping others when they needed help. She would do anything she could to help other and that made her enjoy her life.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Ablett; daughters, Pamela and twins, Stephanie and Shannon; father, Donald Ritter; mother, Betty Dye; brother, Ronnie Ritter; twin brother, Jack Ritter and twin sisters, Linda Rhodes and Cinda Funke.

Judy is survived by three sons, Stuart (Peggy) Ablett, K.C. Ablett and Jason Ablett; two daughters, Kimberly Schossow and Brandi Benz, all of Des Moines; six grandchildren, Heather, Eric, Amber, Kobe, Aasha, Kaylee and Robert; five sisters, Connie Cook (Joe Jongewaard), Carol (Dave) Marquis, Vicky (Bill) White, Billie Jo Miller, all of Des Moines and Sara (Mike) Cockburn, of Greenfield, IA and one brother, Dean (Barb) Ritter of Branson, MO. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Judy will be greatly missed by her family, friends and co-workers with whom she shared many experiences with.
