On a sunny day out and about, I wanted to stop and get a quick lunch with my daughter before heading home. Looking for something hearty and filling without much waiting, I decided to try Abelardo’s Mexican Food in West Glen.
We walked into the small yet sunny and open restaurant with small tables lined up against the edge. There were already diners casually sitting and eating with friends or co-workers as we made our way up to the ordering counter. I was impressed with how low the prices were and happy to see that there were lots of choices to mix and match. Unlike many other Mexican restaurants that I’ve been to before, breakfast is served all day which came as a nice surprise.
I was hoping to share whatever I ordered with my toddler, so I knew nothing super saucy would do. I decided to order the beef nachos with a side of rice to round out the meal. We then got a drink and took a seat at a table just across from the soda machine.
Since it’s a smaller restaurant, it felt cozy and quiet, just perfect for a mid-week lunch. The sun was streaming through the big windows and made the whole place light and airy.
After a lighting fast wait, my lunch was up and ready to devour. The huge plate of nachos was more than I was expecting, but looked hot and yummy. The crispy chips were piled high with meat, cheese and fresh guacamole. One bite and I was hooked. The chips were steamy, salty and hearty enough to be loaded with lots of toppings.
The rice was great for my toddler and also great atop a chip or two. With very messy fingers and a full stomach, we tidied up our table and headed out. Abelardo’s is a great addition to the West Glen area and a nice place to eat with friends and family.Abelardo’s Mexican Food
