October 18, 1965 – April 2, 2013
Darin Richard Dare, 47, passed away unexpectedly on April 2, 2013.
A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 6, 2013, in the chapel, at Lutheran Church of Hope, in West Des Moines.
Darin proudly owned “Dare Carpet Care” and together with his wife kay, they owned and managed several rental properties throughout the Des Moines area. Their teamwork and dedication proved successful and spoke directly to their true work ethic which was admired by many.
Darin and Kay enjoyed sunny relaxing trips away, as well as patronizing their many favorite local restaurants. Darin never met a stranger nor did he ever hesitate to verbally share his opinion on just about any topic.
Darin and Kay regularly attended services at Lutheran Church of Hope, which they considered to be treasured gifts. Darin also participated in AA and NA meetings weekly.
Darin’s presence and stature were always “larger than life” just like his collection of “boy-toys”. Darin’s heart was large and filled to overflowing with the joy he received from all of his friends. His laugh, humor, and love will forever be missed by all of the people that were blessed to share his life with him.
Among the many loved ones left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Kay, their “doggie child” Peanut, and stepson Mike Dentler, his sisters Paige, Stacey, and Heather, his mother, Hazel VanVoorhis, his nephews Ames (Mallory) and Ashton Cross, and his nieces Amelia and Abigail Cross.
He was preceded in death by his biological father, Merlin Sawyer, and his adoptive father, Carl Dare, and his grandparents.Information provided by: Memorial Services of Iowa 4208 North Ankeny Blvd Ankeny, IA 50023 515.964.0592 www.memorialservicesofiowa.com
