Martha L. Buelt, age 78, of Carroll and formerly of Glidden passed away on Wednesday, April 2, 2013 at the Carroll Health Center Nursing Home.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Glidden with Fr. Timothy Johnson as celebrant assisted by Deacon Gary Schon. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden after 4:30 P.M. on Friday where there will be Christian Wake Service at 6:30 P.M. followed by a Rosary. Lector for the Mass will be Deacon Gary Schon. Gift bearers will be Cody and Ashley Buelt. Casket bearers will be Mark Polk, Andrew Buelt, Cody Buelt, Scott Young, Gary Williams, Brian Weber, and Tom Weber. In lieu of flowers and memorials, it was Martha’s request that random acts of kindness be done in her memory.

Born on May 24, 1934 at Dedham, Iowa, she was the daughter of Frank P. and Mary (Mattes) Tigges. She grew up in Dedham and graduated from St. Angela’s Academy in 1952. She then attended the Northwest Institute of Medical Technology in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was married to John Buelt on November 11, 1957 at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Dedham. Martha worked as a lab technician at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll for many years. She volunteered serving Meals on Wheels and with the Speak Up Program at the Glidden Ralston School. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Seton Church in Glidden, the Ladies Guild, and the church choir. Martha enjoyed going to dances with John, working at the lab, gardening, and spending time with her family and friends.

Martha is survived by: two sons: Brian Buelt and wife Doreen (Reiff) of Galesburg, Illinois, and Clark Buelt and his wife Kim (Ploeger) of Cedar Rapids; three daughters: Karla Polk and her husband Mark of Eureka Springs, Arkansas, Andrea Williams and her husband Gary of Rock Island, Illinois, and Shelly Young and her husband Scott of West Des Moines, Iowa; five grandchildren: Andrew, Ashley, and Allison Buelt, Cody Buelt, and Brady Williams; and one great grand daughter Mackenzie Polk; three sisters: Marie Eischeid of Halbur, Annie Sloup of Omaha, Susan Davis and her husband Dean of Glidden; and a brother Raymond Tigges and his wife Edna of Cedar Rapids; five sisters-in-law: LouAnn Tigges of Carroll, Lenore Lodge and her husband James of Sioux City, Iowa, Elaine Buelt of Carroll, Iowa, Carol Riesenberg and her husband Lou of Moscow, Idaho, and Mary Johnson of Tucson, Arizona; three brothers-in-law: Norman Buelt of Overland Park, Kansas, Allan Buelt and his wife Barb of Omaha; and Ron Ensley of Great Bend, Kanasa; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John, sisters: Dorothy Pille, Alice Heithoff, and Alverna Tigges, and brothers: Larry, Leander, Melvin, Felix, Victor, and Franklin Tigges.
