National Money Smart Week is April 20 – 27. During this week organizations all across the country come together to stress the importance of financial literacy, inform consumers about where they can get help and provide free educational seminars and activities.
Johnston Public Library will be offering two free, informational programs: Social Security; Helping Married Couples File for Maximum Lifetime Benefits and Welcome to Medicare.
Social Security: Helping Married Couples File for Maximum Lifetime Benefits
Thursday, April 25
6:30 – 8 p.m.
Married couples often make the mistake of filing for their Social Security benefits based solely on their age, as if they were single. This mistake can cost a couple tens of thousands of dollars over the course of their retirement. If you are married, between the ages of 55 and 68, and have not yet filed for Social Security or have questions about the way you have filed, this presentation is for you. This class is free and open to the public, but pre-registration is required. Please register online at www.johnstonlibrary.com or by calling the library at 515-278-5233.
Welcome to Medicare
