Each fall, the Johnston volleyball team holds the Dig Pink/Spike Blue event to raise money for the Side-Out Foundation and American Cancer Society. Dollars raised go toward breast cancer and colon cancer research, respectively.

In a statement from the Side-Out Foundation, Johnston was listed as one of the top five fundraising teams in Iowa, bringing in $4,030.00. Overall, Iowa ranked 13th in the nation for their fundraising for breast cancer research.Volleyball coach Rich Brooks said an equivalent amount was also raised for the American Cancer Society and colon cancer research.

Congratulations to our volleyball players, coaches, and supportive community members who donated to these worthwhile causes!

The Side-Out Foundation, is a non-profit organization that raises money for breast cancer research through the sport of volleyball.
