Spring book sale

It’s time for some spring cleaning.  The Friends of the Kendall Young Library Spring Book Sale will be held April 24 – 27. Donations of used books and DVDs are being accepted at the library through Monday, April 22.

Database spotlight
Did you know that you have access to language learning courses for more than 125 different languages through Kendall Young Library? The library subscribes to Transparent Language (found on the Kendall Young Library webpage, under “Online Databases”), a service which gives you access to online language learning programs for a wide variety of languages. Use your library card to log on and get started today.

Upcoming programs
Teen Board (grades 6-12) meets the first Tuesday of the month.  Teens help to choose Young Adult library books and plan activities. Tuesday, April 2, 5:30 – 6:30 p.m.  All teens are welcome.

An optional activity at the April 2 Teen Board will be a Teen Book Discussion of “Beautiful Creatures” by Kami Garcia. Teens can read the book and get the whole story before seeing the movie. Any teen/preteen, grade 6-12 is welcome. Ask the Young Adult Librarian to reserve a copy of the book for you.

Friend of the Library annual meeting: Thursday, April 11,  6:30 p.m. A brief business meeting will be followed by the program Floating Through History.  Naturalist Larry Stone will present this entertaining look at the natural and cultural resources that canoeists, visitors and residents may experience along our waterways. Everyone is welcome.

Stitch ‘n Chat: Wednesday, April 17, 2 p.m. You supply your project, and the library will supply refreshments.

Book Discussion: “Little Bee” by Chris Cleave, Tuesday, April 23, noon. Books are available at the Checkout Desk. Everyone is welcome.

Spring Book Sale: Wednesday, April 24 (Friends of the Library early shopping day) through noon on Saturday, April 27.

Children’s programming
Saturday Morning Children’s Movies are shown every Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to noon for ages kindergarten to fifth grade. March 23: “Brave” (PG); March 30: “Cars 2” (G); April 6: “Garfield – The Movie 2” (PG); April 13: “ParaNorman (PG); April 20: Miracle Worker” (PG); April 27: “Princess Diaries” (G).
Toddler Storytime (ages 2 – 3): First Wednesday of the month, 10:05 – 10:35 a.m. (April 3, May 1).
Preschool Storytime (ages 3 – 5): Tuesdays, March 12 – April 16, 10:05-10:35 a.m.
Crafty Readers (preK – 1st grade): Thursdays, March 21 – April 11. 3:30 – 4:30pm
Science Club (grades 2 – 5): Tuesdays, March 12 – April 16, 4 – 5 p.m.
