Des Moines, IA (February, 22, 2013) – The Principal Charity Classic tees off in nearly three months at its new home in the heart of the city and parking will be more convenient than ever. All general public, handicap and volunteer parking is free and located less than five minutes from Wakonda Club at Water Works Park in Des Moines.
“This year, our new home at Wakonda Club will bring fresh and exciting play to the Champions Tour players,” said Mary O’Keefe, chair of The Principal Charity Classic board. “We worked very closely with Water Works Park, the City of Des Moines and Wakonda Club to ensure a convenient parking and entrance design which benefits our spectators and volunteers.
GENERAL PUBLIC PARKING
Spectators of The Principal Charity Classic will park at a designated area http://www.principalcharityclassic.com/parking.php at Water Works Park located at 2201 George Flagg Parkway, Des Moines, IA. Parking and shuttle transportation are provided free of charge and will run on a continuous basis beginning at 7:00 a.m. CDT daily and stopping approximately one hour after the final event of the day concludes. Handicap parking and wheelchair accessible shuttles will also be available for spectators with a valid handicap placard.
Water Works Park can be accessed from I-235 or IA-5. Signage will direct spectators to follow a preferred, less congested route exiting on IA-28/SW 63rd to Park Ave and George Flagg Parkway. Directions and map are available at http://www.principalcharityclassic.com/parking.php .
Spectators will take a short shuttle ride from the parking lot to the tournament’s main entrance located on the north side of Wakonda Club just off Park Avenue. The main entrance will include Admissions and Will Call, Merchandise and Concessions. From there, fans will have an easy and short walk to all main spectator areas including the 14th green party patio, 18th green bleachers, champions club and 19th hole concessions.
Volunteers of The Principal Charity Classic will park in a designated area of water Works Park. Dedicated shuttles will transport volunteers to the volunteer only entrance conveniently located near Volunteer Headquarters. Volunteer shuttles will run on a continuous basis beginning at various times each day and ending approximately one hour after the final event of the day concludes.
