The time is nearly upon us. Purple, pink and yellow candies line the aisles of pharmacy and grocery stores.
At home, children eagerly look for the magnifying glass-shaped wire to start dyeing eggs. With Easter only a short while away, why not make a plan to head over to Western Gateway Park and join The Gateway Church for its “Eggs, Eggs Everywhere!” extravaganza?
“As an organization committed to bettering our community, we noticed there wasn’t a spring event downtown for families,” said Paul Stewart of The Gateway Church. “The goal of ‘Eggs, Eggs Everywhere!’ is to bring friends and neighbors together to celebrate all that downtown has to offer.”
The event is free, and registration begins at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 7, when the Easter Bunny arrives. Also opening at 9 a.m. will be an assortment of family activities including face painting, art activities, giant inflatables for bouncing around in and pictures with the Easter bunny. Don’t worry parents; there will be a coffee station serving up fresh and free coffee to keep you energized during the hunt, as well.
More than 10,000 candy- and prize-filled eggs will be hidden in Western Gateway Park. Children will hunt in groups determined by age. Children are encouraged to bring their own baskets for gathering eggs.
9:30 a.m.: Ages 0 – 3 years hunt
9:50 a.m.: Ages 4-5 years hunt
10:10 a.m.: Ages 6-8 years hunt
10:30 a.m.: Ages 9-10 years hunt
Noon: Face-painting, art activities, inflatables and coffee station close
The Gateway Church organizes the free Easter egg hunt to bring families and neighbors closer together downtown for a little springtime fun in Western Gateway Park. As the only Easter egg hunt in the city’s center, all families are encouraged to come out, search the park and claim as many eggs as you can carry.
