First United Methodist Church is hosting its second annual Valentine Dinner on Feb. 14.

Valentine’s Day is always that time of the year which people love (as the day suggests) or loathe, depending on your plans. This year, First United Methodist Church will be hosting its second annual Valentine Dinner on Thursday, Feb. 14.

This event will take place at 6:30 p.m. in Fellowship Hall. The meal, which will be provided by the church, will precede the invited guest speaker, Lisa Turner, who is a licensed marriage and family therapist in the area.

This event is not yet open to the public, but information for those wanting to join First United Methodist is available by visiting their website at www.jeffumc.com or stoping by for a visit at 307 S. Wilson Ave.

In the spirit of the Valentine’s Day celebration, Webb House will also be hosting Valentine’s festivities in the form of a dance on Friday, Feb. 15. All junior high youth in grades 6 – 8 are invited to attend with their peers from around the community.

“We want to provide a place for kids that want something fun and safe to do,” said Jim North, who is a regular chaperone for Webb House events, and even took part in creating the safe haven. “It’s a place they an go before church activities, after ball games or when they don’t have a babysitter. It’s nice to see kids taking advantage of the space.”

This year, Webb House is celebrating its 15th anniversary of serving youth throughout Greene County. The house was opened to help junior high and high school-aged kids find a place to relax, play games and have fun with friends. Following the move into a new house after five years serving youth, Webb House now has room to grow. Stocked with games, food and places to put your feet up, Webb House hosts Friday nights for junior high youth from 8 – 10 p.m. and Saturdays for high school students from grades 9 – 12. For more information about events and activities coming up at Webb House, stop in at 401 S. Wilson Ave. or visit their Facebook page at www.facebook.com/pages/Webb-House.
