Superintendent’s Blog

Posted February 12, 2013 in Community Blogs, Greene County

On behalf of the East Greene and Jefferson-Scranton Boards of Education, East Greene Superintendent Mike Harter and I would like to thank everyone that turned out to vote in the reorganization election on Tuesday, February 5th.  We were extremely pleased with the number of people that voted.  Eighty-seven percent of voters in the East Greene School District voted in favor of reorganization and eighty-nine percent of voters approved of reorganization in the Jefferson-Scranton School District.  As a result of this vote, the two school districts will reorganize into the Greene County Community School District starting July 1, 2014.

Although the reorganization does not go into effective until July 1, 2014, a lot of work will need to be done to get ready for that date.  The School Boards are looking at having a joint meeting in the coming weeks to begin the discussion on our next steps in the reorganization process.

Again, we want to thank everyone for supporting the reorganization effort.  The results of the vote clearly show the patrons of the East Greene and Jefferson-Scranton School Districts want the best educational opportunities available to students.
