Randall “Randy” Keith Stanzyk, age 59, of Willey, Iowa and formerly of Carroll passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 09, 2013.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Carroll with Pastor Brian Licht officiating. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 5:00 P.M. on Tuesday where there will be a prayer service held 7:00 P.M. The casket will be moved to the church at 8:30 A.M. on Wednesday where visitation will resume until the time of service. Organist for the service will be Jan Hoff. Casket bearers will be Matt Stanzyk, Bobby Noland, Terry Noland, Jon Stanzyk, Rich Graves, A.J. Gutoski, Michael Stanzyk, and Steven Stanzyk, . Burial will be in the Carroll City Cemetery.
Born on January 4, 1954 at Denison, Iowa, he was the son of Donavon Sr. and Helene (Kunze) Stanzyk. He was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. Randy grew up in Carroll and graduated from Carroll High School in 1972. He was confirmed in the Lutheran faith at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Carroll. Following high school he attended DMACC in Ankeny for one year and then transferred to the University of Iowa. He was married to Pamela Kay Garrett on June 22, 1984 at an outdoor wedding in Graham Park in Carroll by Pastor Donald Wurtz. The couple made their home in Willey where they raised their children. Randy has been employed by the Pella Corporation for the past 29 years. He was the water quality manager for the city of Willey for many years. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where he had served as Elder. He was a member of the Carroll JC’s and he was on a bowling league for many years. Randy enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing golf, riding his motorcycle, gardening, raising flowers, nature, and spending time with his family and many good friends.
Randy is survived by his wife Pamela of Willey; a daughter Emily Stanzyk of St. Paul, Minnesota; a son Andrew Stanzyk of Ames; his mother Helene Stanzyk of Carroll; five brothers: Donavon Stanzyk Jr. of Waterloo, Stanley Stanzyk and his wife Carmel of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Jeff Stanzyk and his wife Barb of Waukee, Ted Stanzyk and his wife Carla of Colfax, and Rick Stanzyk and his wife Karen of Centennial, Colorado; three sisters: Cheri Eicher of Los Lunas, New Mexico, Patty Noland and her husband Bob of Omaha, and Lynne McGovern of Savage, Minnesota; his father-in-law Larry Garrett and his special friend Elaine of Council Bluffs; a sister-in-law Karen Graves and her husband Rich of Bellevue, Nebraska; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
