Evelyn Tasler, the daughter of Russell and Marie (Klingson) Lundy, was born June 16, 1918 in Fort Dodge, Iowa and departed this life January 30, 2013 at the Carroll Health Center in Carroll, Iowa. She lived her life to the age of 94 years, 7 months and 14 days.
Evelyn attended school in Fort Dodge. She graduated from the Fort Dodge Senior High in 1936. Evelyn moved with her parents to Churdan in 1937. She held various jobs including one at the Square Deal Produce & Creamery owned by her parents.
On February 7, 1939, Evelyn Lundy was united in marriage to Delbert (Bob) Tasler at St. Columbkille Catholic Church in Churdan. Four children were born to this union; Beth (Johnnie) Shoemaker of Churdan, Cathy (Ed) Sabus of Churdan, Ramona (Leonard) Moran of Lohrville and Terry (Neil) Tasler of Churdan. After their marriage, the couple farmed near Churdan until 1957, when they moved into Churdan. Evelyn worked at many jobs; the Paton-Churdan School, Paton Egg Plant, babysitting and the Churdan Library.
Evelyn was a member of St. Columbkille Catholic Church in Churdan. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, gardening, canning, fishing and loved to play cards.
Left to mourn her passing are her four children, a brother, Dale (Betty) Lundy of La Grange Park, Illinois, a sister, Pat Lesle of Wall Lake, Iowa, 17 grandchildren, 34 Great-grandchildren, 9 great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and many who know her as “Grandma T”. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Bob in 1989, her brother, John Lundy and his wife, Verdel, sister Bea and her husband, George, sister-in-law Ellen Lundy, brother-in-law Ken Lesle and great-grandchild Joey Hildreth.
Mass of the Christian burial was held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, February 2, 2013, from St. Columbkille Catholic Church in Churdan with Rev. Father Tim Johnson officiating. Interment made in the St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery, west of Churdan. Musical selections were sung by soloists, John Wagner and Barb and Terry Nelson with organist, Richard Carey accompanying.
Serving as casket bearers were her grandsons; Jay Shoemaker, Jeff Shoemaker, Rick Sabus, Steve Sabus, Dan Sabus, David Sabus, Kevin Sabus, Mike Moran, Brian Moran and Tyler Tasler.
