Snow Ordinance Reminder from Chief Brickner

Posted January 29, 2013 in Community Web Exclusives, Perry

Snowfall is forecast to start sometime after 7:00 p.m. tonight, Tuesday January 29, 2013. The snowfall may be somewhat significant with accumulation predictions ranging from 4 to 7 inches.

As always we appreciate and encourage our community members to voluntarily move their vehicles off of the street so that our public works department can get the snow removed. When the streets are clear of parked vehicles our public works people can get the streets clean from curb to curb and do so in much less time. This reduces the chances of accidents for the plow drivers and saves tax payer dollars.

Please assist us in make all of our friends and neighbors aware of the snow fall and the need to park off of the street. Please let everyone know that as much as we dislike writing tickets and having cars towed, those enforcement actions will begin at just after 10:00 p.m. tonight. This timeline is based on our best understanding of when the snow fall will arrive and when a half an inch will have accumulated. If the storm follows the predicted timeline and snow fall amounts this also allows us to have the vehicles in violation removed by the time our street crew starts their removal efforts.

Obviously, if the storm arrives early, doesn’t produce a half an inch of accumulation, or it arrives later than expected our plans and time frame will change as well.
