Erma Madden, age 96, of Boone and the Eastern Star Masonic Home, died January 24, 2013, in the Hospice Care Unit at the Boone County Hospital.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 29, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Sarah E. Duffel officiating. Burial will be in the Mackey Cemetery in Mackey.

Erma was born in Mackey on November 12, 1916, the daughter of Edward and Hattie (Wheeler) Knight.

On March 21, 1934, Erma married Howard Madden in Nevada.

Erma lived all her life in the Boone area before moving to the Eastern Star Masonic Home.

She was a member of the Mackey Methodist Ladies Aid for many years.

Erma loved to visit with friends, neighbors, and relatives.

Her most cherished times were spent with her children and grandchildren.

Erma is preceded in death by her parents, husband Howard in September 1983, four brothers: Albert, Emmet, Harold, and Norman Knight; three sisters: Edna Turner, Beulah Hamilton, and Velma Gardner; and a grandson Brian Nelson.

She is survived by her son Darrell Madden and wife Phyllis of Boone; daughter Karen Michel and husband Floyd of Boone; grandchildren: Mike Madden and wife Jane, Susan Nelson, Jeff Michel and wife Amy, and Mishelle Michel; great grandchildren Ryan Nelson and wife Ashley, Justin Nelson, Mallory Michel, Bryce Michel, Kayla Madden, and Mackenzie Madden; a great-great grandson Carter Nelson; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall on Monday from 2 until 8 p.m. where the family will be present from 6 until 8 p.m.

Visitation on Tuesday will be at the Church from 10 a.m. until service time.

In memory of Erma, memorials may be directed to the family.
