Marvin Dale England, 88 of Perry, IA passed away January 23, 2013 at the Rowley Memorial Masonic Home in Perry. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at Murdock Funeral Home in Perry. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. -7:00 p.m. Monday, January 28, 2013 with family receiving friends one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Pastor Tim Johnson of the First Christian Church in Perry will officiate the service. Bertha Mae Van Horn will be the musician and special musical selections will be Amazing Grace and How Great Thou Art. Pallbearers will be: Mark England, Justin Parman, Justin Cowles, Logan Parman, Ethan Boyer and David Loyd. Burial will be in Violet Hill Cemetery with Military Honors.
Marvin, Dale as he was known, was born on June 26, 1924 in Green City, MO the son of Floyd and Rosey (Shaver) England. On August 7, 1943 Dale enlisted in the United States Army. Staff Sergeant England was a rifleman with the 363rd Infantry Company F and fought during World War II as part of the European, African, and Middle Eastern Theatre Campaign. Part of Dale’s service time was spent in Italy. He was awarded the European-African-Middle Eastern Theatre Campaign Ribbon, three Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart and a Silver Star Medal. Dale was honorable discharged on November 6, 1945. Dale was united in marriage to Virginia Bowman on April 6, 1946 in Milan, Missouri. Dale farmed and lived in the Washington Township area and after retirement moved to Perry. Dale was a member of the First Christian Church in Perry, and the Perry American Legion.
Dale is survived by his son Marvin C. England of Perry; daughter Lucille Cowles of Vincennes, IN; sister Ruth Jean Songer of Bouton, IA; Four Grandchildren: Mark England, Jennifer Parman, Kim Ramsey and Kris Anderson; nine great grandchildren: Katie England, Anna England, Logan Parman, Eric Parman, Justin Cowles, Jackie Ramsey, Myra Ramsey, Cheyenne Anderson and Kyia Anderson.
Dale is preceded in death by his parents and wife Virginia in 1984.
