Happy New Year from the Ericson Public Library. We are starting 2013 with fun programs, exciting changes and Sunday hours.
Serving teenagers is an important part of the library’s mission to meet the informational, educational, cultural and recreational needs of the community. New fiction, nonfiction, manga and comic books for teenagers are added every month. The Young Adult Librarian, Arielle Loy, is charged with selecting these materials, providing programs, advising teen patrons and running the Teen Summer Reading Program. Arielle also maintains a blog in which she reviews books for teens and showcases the activities of teens within the library (www.bestbookbuds.blogspot.com).
Of particular interest this month is the expansion and renovation of the library’s Teen Zone. Having an attractive, accessible space set aside for teens provides them a positive, safe environment for studying and socializing. The renovated Teen Zone acknowledges teenage library users and their needs by offering the resources and the environment to foster positive intellectual, emotional and social development and building a sense of belonging, community involvement and library appreciation.
The exciting changes in the Teen Zone include an expansion and fun, new furniture. This new space is the perfect place for teenagers to relax, hang out with friends, study and discover resources just for them. Come check out the changes and enjoy the new space created just for teens. Contact Young Adult Librarian, Arielle Loy, with questions: email@example.com
