Looking for some local entertainment on Sunday, Jan. 27? Look no further than Oakwood United Methodist Church’s annual Stars over Oakwood Talent Show.
The show starts at 6 p.m. in the sanctuary, and admission will be free. Acts of all types and participants of all ages are invited to sign up and perform two-and-a-half- to three-and-a-half-minute skits. The talent show also serves as the EPIC youth group’s annual fundraiser, when the youth group’s members will be serving pie, ice cream and coffee. The night should be an enjoyable one for all.
The fun doesn’t stop there, though. Oakwood Church has two more special events coming up in February. Wednesday, Feb. 13, marks the church’s traditional pancake supper, which will take place in the Family Life Center and fellowship area from 5:45 – 6:30 p.m. and is free of charge courtesy of the church’s hospitality team. Then, on Saturday, Feb. 16, the church will be hosting the Lions Club 10th annual soup supper. The event will take place from 4:30 – 7:30 p.m. in the Family Life Center and fellowship area. There will be no charge for admission, but freewill donations are welcomed. The night also promises live entertainment, door prizes and a silent auction. All proceeds will go to the Lions Club scholarship fund as well as providing funds for purchasing glasses and hearing aids for those who can’t afford them.
